With the theme park’s recent announcement of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood, now gamers can see their favorite games come to life too! Here’s what we know about the new land so far.

Super Nintendo World is currently under construction at Universal Studios Hollywood. The land aims to bring the Nintendo universe’s iconic games to life in a way never experienced before. The land is based on the architecture and images of Nintendo’s classic video games like “Super Mario Brothers” and “Mario Kart.” While much remains unknown about the land, Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open at Universal’s location in Japan first. Many people are looking to what the world in Japan will look like to get an idea of what’s in store for Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Super Nintendo World promises to give video game lovers the chance to live a video game for the first time! You may enter the land through one of the iconic green warp tunnels, where you will be transformed into Nintendo’s newest video game character. Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by large, cartoon-ish structures like block-style landscaping, moving clouds, green hills, and landmarks like Princess Peach and Bowser’s castle. The area will feature several shops, a restaurant, and rides as well.

The new land will open with two anchor attractions. One will be based on Yoshi’s character, while the other will be an augmented-reality game based on Mario Kart. The Mario Kart attraction will be inside Bowser’s Castle. It will include ride vehicles that allow you to race other guests and the Nintendo world’s characters. You’ll be fully-immersed into Mario Kart lands like Jungle Parkway and Wario’s Castle. The ride vehicles may also react to other guest’s actions, like the vehicle spinning “out of control” if someone throws a banana peel on the track, just like it does in the video game.

Another unique feature for the land will be interacting with various game elements throughout the land. Guests can purchase Power Up wristbands that are styled after different Nintendo characters like Toadstool, Peach, Luigi, and Mario. There will be experiences throughout the land where you can interact with the structures around you. One may be to punch the iconic blocks showcased in the game to earn coins. You can keep track of your coins with a corresponding phone app so you can compete with your friends. You’ll also be able to complete missions and find objects using the bands as well.

Construction is underway at Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. You may catch a glimpse of some of the green mountain facades or Bowser’s castle if you while visiting the theme park. The land is located on Universal’s lower lot, near the Transformers: The Ride 3D attraction. Super Nintendo World was initially scheduled to open in Hollywood in 2021 or 2022, but coronavirus shutdowns may affect its opening. In the meantime, there are still lots of free things to do in Los Angeles, so you can always have a great time while you’re in town.

The opening of Super Nintendo World is still a way off, so there are many new things about the land, but we’ll have to wait to see what this immersive world will hold for its guests. Once opened, the area will likely experience a considerable increase in visitors, so be sure to book your room early, so you’re one of the first to experience this land!
